A local man has been blackmailed by scammers using face-swap nude photos of him, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Lou Chan Fai said during a regular press conference yesterday.
According to Lou, a stranger added the victim as a friend on a chat app in the wee hours of Saturday and they started chatting. The stranger then sent a link to a video app, which the victim downloaded. The victim ignored the request from the stranger offering to chat in the nude in the video app.
Later, a man called the victim claiming to have obtained the victim’s contact list and other information, and demanded that the victim add him as a friend in an online chat app, or else he would publicly release face-swap nude photos of him. The victim once again ignored the scammer and reported the case to the police later that day, Lou noted.
