The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement yesterday that the provisional contest schedule for its 41st Macao Young Musicians Competition will be available from 10 a.m. today.
The schedule for the competition, which is dedicated to the piano category, can be viewed at www.icm.gov.mo/CJMM, according to the statement. The statement noted that the application period for the contest ended last Wednesday and had over 600 applications.
The contest is slated to be held from July 30 through August 9 at the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies’ (IFTM) Mong-Ha Campus and the University of Macau’s (UM) University Hall, the statement said.
Meanwhile, the “Special Prizes Competition” is provisionally scheduled to take place on August 13 at IFTM’s Mong Ha Campus. The performance order, the statement added, will be determined by random electronic ballot.
Participants must register in person at the venue during the period by presenting an original copy of their valid Macau ID and perform based on the allocated order, the statement noted.
The statement pointed out that solo category participants need to memorise the music scores, while participants in the Piano Four-hands and Chamber Music categories, and Piano Concerto category accompanists must use legal copies of music scores. The warm-up room schedule will be determined by the organiser on-site based on performance order.
Meanwhile, the statement said that the “BOC Macau Presents: 41st Macao Young Musicians Competition – Talk: Piano Performance Techniques” will be held on July 1, 2 and 8 at the Macao Museum of Art’s (MAM) auditorium. Tickets are available at www.macauticket.com.
