Two men have been arrested for their involvement in fake employment, Public Security Police (PSP) Wong Wai Chon said at a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspects are a 40-year-old local man surnamed Chan who is the owner of a trading company on Avenida General Castelo Branco, and a 35-year-old mainlander surnamed Wang who told the police that he is a construction worker. Chan hired Wang in 2020.
According to Wong, PSP officers recently investigated Wang’s non-resident worker (NRW) employment by Chan’s company as the former was seldom in Macau. Wang was intercepted when he entered Macau through the Barrier Gate checkpoint on June 9 when the police also summoned Chan to a police station for questioning.
Chan told the police that the NRW originally hired by the company had left in 2020, and the point of Wang’s fake employment was to maintain the company’s quota for NRWs unchanged. Wang and Chan claimed that the bogus employment did not involve any pecuniary benefits, Wong said.
The duo have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing document forgery charges, according to Wong.
