The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) has held a grand opening for its “Postgraduate Space”, a dedicated area for postgraduate students to work on academic research and writing their theses, an IFTM statement said yesterday.

The ceremony was held on Monday.

The space is located at the East Asia Hall Annex Building in Taipa, the statement noted. The tertiary education institution has two campuses, one in Mong Ha on the peninsula and the other in Taipa.

The statement added that IFTM has been offering postgraduate programmes including Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Science (MSc), and Postgraduate Diploma (PgD) since 2019.

Three new programmes will be launched in the 2023/2024 academic year, the statement said, which are Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in International Hospitality and Tourism Management (with five specialisations), MSc in Digital Marketing and Analytics, and PgD in Digital Marketing and Analytics, effective upon being published in the Official Gazette (BO).

Meanwhile, IFTM also signed a dual master’s programme cooperation agreement with the University of Queensland (UQ) in December 2022 to enhance its postgraduate students’ “learning development and international exposure”. Eligible IFTM postgraduate students can transfer credits and complete UQ’s Master of Tourism, Hotel, and Event Management degrees simultaneously with their IFTM master’s degree, in as little as two years, the statement noted.

The statement added that master’s degree and PgD programmes are open for application until July 14, while PhD applications are accepted year-round with two intakes. For more details, visit https://www.iftm.edu.mo/admission/en/how_to_apply/apply-online/postgraduate-programmes/index.html.
