A Russian man has been arrested for stealing a bottle of red wine worth 138 patacas, a Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said at a press conference on Friday.
According to the spokesperson, the male suspect in his twenties is a Russian passport holder.
The spokesperson said that police officers found a male acting suspiciously when they were patrolling around Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida last Tuesday night, soon after which the suspect was seen walking into a convenience store in the neighbourhood, putting a bottle of red wine into his carrier bag and leaving the store without paying
As the suspect left the shop, the police officers arrested him immediately and seized the stolen bottle from him, according to the spokesperson.
Under questioning, the suspect admitted to stealing the red wine.
According to the spokesperson, the suspect had entered Macau last Monday, with his travel permit valid until the middle of next month.
Therefore, the spokesperson said, the suspect’s travel permit was cancelled immediately after the theft and the process of banning him from entering Macau was started.
The suspect has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft charge, the spokesperson said.
