The annual Latin City parade, Macau Light Festival and Macau International Marathon will all be held on December 4 to boost tourism, as the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and the Sports Bureau (ID) jointly announced the events at the Tourism Activities Centre (CAT) in Zape yesterday.
Over 60 local, national and foreign performance groups have been invited to join the ‘Parade through Macau, Latin City’, totalling about 1,200 performers, according to IC President Guilherme Ung Vai Meng.
Unlike in past years, this time the route will be extended from Largo do Senado to the Ruins of St. Paul in addition to the original parade route, from the Ruins of St Paul to Praça do Tap Seac to attract more spectators. IC Vice-President Leung Hio Ming said he expected an increase of 20 to 30 percent in the number of spectators, which numbered about 100,000 last year, according to the government.
