The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced yesterday that the first-ever “Macau Courtesy Campaign” will be launched for the general public in phases next month and in August, aiming to continue to promote a culture of hospitality and good service by the tourism industry, building up a tourism image of a courteous city and consolidating Macau’s status as a World Tourism and Leisure Centre, according to an MGTO statement yesterday.
The statement noted that MGTO will, through a raft of promotional activities, raise local residents’ awareness to treat visitors with courtesy and realise the importance of their interrelationships to the creation of a tourist city.
The campaign, which will continue throughout the year, will be widely publicised through different means and channels such as videos, posters, radio, television advertising, and social platforms, among others, the statement said, adding that messages about the campaign will also be disseminated to the community and the tourism sector through associations, institutions, and tourism-related organisations.
MGTO said in the statement that it expected the campaign to further enhance the quality of Macau’s tourism services, promote a spirit among the general public to treat visitors with courtesy and contribute to the sustainable development of the tourism sector and development as a World Centre for Tourism and Leisure.
A kick-off ceremony for the campaign will be held at the 11th Macau International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE) which will take place tomorrow at The Venetian Macao in Cotai.
