The Fire Services Bureau (CB) said in a statement yesterday that its now-defunct WeChat social media account has been hacked.
The statement noted that the bureau’s previous WeChat account already ceased operating in 2019, adding that the bureau discovered yesterday that the account had been attacked by hackers. Consequently, the bureau reported the case to the Judiciary Police (PJ).
The statement said that after having been hacked, the old WeChat account had sent a message and a link to smartphone users who had previously subscribed to the account but had still not removed it from their devices.
The statement urged smartphone users not to click on any links on the old WeChat account, so as to prevent any possible cybersecurity risks.
The statement said that the bureau’s current WeChat social media account is known as “걜門句렝애CB” in Chinese and “MacaoCB” in English and Portuguese.
