The Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) will host a series of events in July to celebrate DSAMA Day on July 18, with a maritime experience activity on July 15 and 16 from Barra Pier where members of the public will be able to take a cruise to experience seafarers’ daily work, the bureau said in a statement last week.
According to Thursday’s statement, six voyages will be provided per day, each with a quota of 40 places, providing a total of 480 places.
The interior of the Guia Lighthouse will be open for viewing from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays during July, where old navigational beacons and light systems used in Macau in the past will be displayed, the statement said. It is the oldest Western lighthouse on the southern Chinese coast.
According to the statement, the Maritime Museum will hold parent-child workshops and model ship handling games on July 15 and 16, while the Maritime Training School will also be open for tours and will display teaching aids for maritime training courses.
Members of the public can register online at the bureau’s WeChat public website until Thursday. The 240 lucky ones will be drawn by ballot, each of whom will be entitled to two places. Once the winners receive the SMS notification, they will be able to book their travel time online and proceed to Barra Pier for boarding at the scheduled time.
