The Public Security Police (PSP) issued a statement regarding a viral video showing a fight between a local and a Hong Kong man that erupted yesterday morning near Rua do Mercado de Iao Hon.
According to the statement, the suspect in the incident is a 60-year-old local man who was shopping when he got into an argument with the shop owner, a 48-year-old Hong Kong resident. The argument escalated and turned physical, with both men pushing each other. During the scuffle, the suspect grabbed a “sharp weapon” from his motorcycle.
The video, which went viral, shows that the suspect was holding a knife while the shop owner was holding him from behind.
The suspect claimed that the shop owner punched him, and he used the knife in self-defence. Both men sustained injuries during the altercation.
The shop owner had his finger injured but refused hospital treatment, while the suspect was taken to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre for outpatient treatment.
Both expressed their intention to take legal action against each other. The case was still under investigation yesterday, the statement said.
