The Identification Services Bureau (DSI) said in a statement yesterday that in response to the “significant increase” in residents’ demand for identity card renewals and travel document applications recently, from today the three DSI offices – China Plaza on Avenida da Praia Grande as well as the Government Service Centres in Areia Preta and Taipa –will open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., providing “continuous counter services” seven days a week.
The extended service hours are only for first-time or renewal applications for identity cards, travel documents and visit permits to Hong Kong, while on-site waiting tickets will not be provided, the statement said.
According to the statement, in order to ensure adequate staff numbers to cope with the extra workload due to the expected travel rush during the summer holiday, 100 officials will be seconded to the bureau to assist at the frontline counters and in internal operations, and the number of service applications that can be processed would be increased from 600 to 1,100 per day.
The bureau reminded residents to make an appointment via the government’s “Macao One Account” or DSI website at www.dsi.gov.mo in advance. Enquiries can be made by calling 2837 0777 or 2837 0888 during office hours, or by emailing info@dsi.gov.mo.
