A local man in his fifties was arrested on July 6 for insulting and threatening a woman who reported the illegal parking of his motorbike on Estrada Coronel Nicolau de Mesquita in Taipa to the police, the Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement on Friday.
According to the statement, the Public Security Police received a report from the victim that she saw a motorcycle parked illegally when she was walking along Estrada Coronel Nicolau de Mesquita in Taipa, so she called the PSP Traffic Department. During the call, the victim was insulted and threatened by the motorbike’s male rider when he returned to his vehicle.
After scrutinising the police forces’ citywide CCTV camera system, the Public Security Police identified the suspect and summoned him to a police station for questioning on July 6, the statement said. The suspect, who admitted that he had quarrelled with the victim, claimed that he had forgotten whether he had uttered any threatening words, the statement added.
The suspect has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing an intimidation charge, the statement noted.
