Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On said yesterday the government would learn its lesson from the setbacks in the construction of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) system in Taipa for the still unscheduled LRT project on the peninsula.

The Taipa section of the LRT, the construction of which started in 2011, has been hit by a string of technical, scheduling and budgeting issues.

Chui made the remarks while speaking to reporters at the airport before departing for a working visit to Beijing, when asked by the media about the recent proposal by three lawmakers that the government axe its plan to construct the LRT on the peninsula.
