Macau's Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) has said this evening that this year's first local No.8 typhoon signal will be lowered to the No.3 signal at 8 p.m. tonight, "depending on the actual wind conditions".

According to a statement by the observatory, Typhoon Talim was located about 260 km southwest of Macau at 6 p.m., moving towards the western coast of Guangdong province.

Only minor flooding and no major incidents and injuries have been reported since the No.8 signal was hoisted at 5:30 a.m. today.

Public bus services will remain suspended as long as the No.8 signal is up. As is customary, casinos remain open even during the No.8 or higher typhoon signals.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong's observatory has replaced the No.8 signal with the No.3 signal at 4:20 p.m. this afternoon.

Bus and ferry services between Hong Kong and Macau have been suspended since last night.
