A 40-year-old local man committed suicide by burning charcoal at his home near Pátio do Mestre, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chong Kam Leong said in a statement.
According to the statement, the Judiciary Police were notified about a dead-body-found case from the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at about 8:18 a.m. yesterday stating that the victim was found lying motionless on his bed at around 7 p.m. with a black steel pot containing burnt charcoal ashes on the bedroom floor. The incident was reported by the deceased’s family members who had gone to visit him.
The statement noted that CB paramedics at the scene confirmed that the victim had died some time before their arrival.
The police did not suspect foul play in the victim’s death, the statement said, adding that the exact cause of death had yet to be confirmed by a forensic examination.
