Lawmakers urged the government yesterday to clarify the definition of an illegal tour guide by amending the law and setting up an effective inspection plan as well as an evidence-search strategy, the president of the legislature’s Public Administration Affairs Monitoring Committee, Si Ka Lon, told reporters yesterday.

The committee met government officials at the legislative chamber yesterday morning and signed reports about the supervision of illegal tour guides, the use of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge’s (HZMB) facilities as well as vehicle licences and permits for the bridge. As is customary, the meeting was closed to the media.

Si told reporters after the meeting that the committee members had reported the current situation about suspected illegal tour guides at various border checkpoints during the meeting, adding that the government is reviewing the law related to travel agencies and tour guides.
