Registration for the “Shimmering Glamour” Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) Wedding Gown Design Contest is now open until September 1, SJM Resorts said in a statement yesterday.
A press conference announcing the event’s details was held at Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) in Cotai yesterday.
The statement noted that the event, themed “Shimmering Glamour” and organised by SJM in conjunction with the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTM), aims to promote the continuous development of the GBA’s fashion industry, showcase creative design talent, and foster the cross-industry synergy of “Tourism + Cultural Creativity + Wedding”.
The contest has a total prize value exceeding 200,000 patacas, with the award ceremony and wedding gown show slated for December at Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP), according to the statement.
The statement said that wedding or fashion brand designers, wedding industry professionals, and wedding gown design enthusiasts aged 18 and up, holding valid identification documents from any city within the GBA can enter.
The event will also feature a Fashion Master Sharing Session titled “Shimmering Glamour – Craftsmanship Inheritance and Innovation”, while participants will also be taken on a tour of SJM’s properties to discover East-meets-West inspirations from the architectural composition and art decor, according to the statement.
CPTTM Director-General Victoria Kuan (關治平) was quoted in the statement as saying: “Through joint regional promotional efforts, we hope to bring together leading fashion designers across the GBA to create original wedding gowns that incorporate the timeless elements of romanticism in wedding celebrations.”
SJM Managing Director Daisy Ho Chiu-fung was also quoted as saying: Building on last year’s successful design contest, we are privileged to collaborate with CPTTM once again. This year, we will expand the event’s scale to include designers from across the GBA, providing them with a platform to showcase their design talents and harness the synergies of ‘Tourism + Cultural Creativity + Wedding,’ in promotion of Macau as a leading wedding destination.”
