Marking the fourth consecutive year of supporting the Labor Affairs Bureau’s (DSAL) Internship Career Experience Programme, integrated resort operator Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) said in a recent statement that it has launched the U-LEAD Graduate Internship Program (U-LEAD) and is incorporating new MICE opportunities to provide a broader internship platform for high potential locals.
MICE is an abbreviation for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.
The statement noted that GEG has recently organized the U-LEAD Open Day and Career Day for fresh graduates from local tertiary education institutions to “enhance their interests and knowledge of the MICE industry, whilst deepening their understanding of GEG’s MICE development”.
The statement said that the graduates took a “meticulously planned route” to visit GEG’s new convention and exhibition venues and facilities such as the Galaxy International Convention Centre (GICC) and Galaxy Arena during the U-LEAD Open Day.
GEG’s MICE staff also talked about their professional knowledge and work experience to help participants understand their MICE departments’ daily operations and functions, as well as the GICC’s latest development and opportunities. The statement added that GEG Human Resources Department’s Recruitment Team representatives introduced the U-LEAD program and the company’s business development to participants in hopes of encouraging them to seize the opportunity to join the MICE industry.
The company also arranged guided tours of its MICE facilities for nearly 50 lecturers and students from the DSAL and the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) School of Liberal Arts’ co-organised “Vocational Training Program with Subsidy – 12th Edition of MICE Assistant Training Course”.
The participants, according to the statement, visited a number of GEG’s newly developed MICE and entertainment facilities and learnt about its MICE operations such as event planning, management and execution.
GEG’s MICE staff also talked about industry prospects and potentials with participants, while Human Resources team members introduced the company’s development and provided job matching information to help participants explore career opportunities in related fields, the statement noted.
