In support of “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023”, SJM Resorts has recently launched the Virtually Versailles immersive exhibition at Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) in Cotai, which runs through October 15.

The interactive exhibition’s debut in Macau, according to a recent statement from the integrated resort operator, follows the ones held in Singapore in 2018, Shanghai in 2021 and Hong Kong earlier this year.

The statement noted that the exhibition is designed as an “exploratory taster” of the palace, leading visitors “deep into the heart of Versailles through ground-breaking technology: augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), connected bikes and 360-degree projections”.

The experience, which also incorporates sounds and smells in its immersion, will have visitors wander through 360-degree projections of some of Versailles most iconic spaces:  the Hall of Mirrors, the Royal Opera, the Battles Gallery, and the Mercury and Venus Rooms, the statement said.

Moreover, there is also a room dedicated to world-renowned Paris-based German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld (1933-2019) that projects pictures that he took of the palace, which was one of his favourite places, the statement said.

SJM Managing Director Daisy Ho Chiu-fung was quoted in the statement as saying: “It is high on SJM’s agenda to create more products and services like the ‘Virtually Versailles’ exhibition that combine culture and entertainment, to generate new sources of tourism flow and support the diversification of our economic composition. We will continue to uphold Macau’s pivotal role as ‘One Base’, to expand our tourism offerings, solidify the ‘Cultural Macau’ reputation, and cultivate meaningful cultural exchanges.”

The exhibition is located on the property’s Level 1 near the South Entrance and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the last admission at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are priced at 138 patacas for adults and 69 patacas for children, and can be booked at the Grand Lisboa Hotel’s lobby, GLP’s “The Gift Shop”, the exhibition’s ticketing counter and on GLP’s website.
