Breast cancer is the most common cancer suffered by female patients in Macau, Kuok Cheong U, deputy director of the Health Bureau (SSM) who heads the public Conde de Sao Januario Hospital Centre, said at Macau Tower yesterday.
Kuok made the remarks during his opening speech for an one-day event to raise public awareness of breast cancer, pointing out that the number of breast cancer patients has been rising continuously in recent years.
The founder of the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation, Polly Cheung Suk-yee, who was one of the guest speakers at the event, said that having an unhealthy lifestyle could be the leading cause of the rise in the number of breast cancer sufferers.
