Macau’s first HSBC Life Insurance Planning Centre opened in Nape yesterday, offering “comprehensive” insurance planning services, covering medical, accident, education, retirement, wealth accumulation and legacy planning needs, to their customers in Macau and elsewhere in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA).
HSBC Life, which was set up in Macau in 2003, commemorates its 20th anniversary in the city this year.
A statement handed out during a press conference yesterday at the centre quoted HSBC Life CEO of Hong Kong and Macau Edward Moncreiffee as saying: “Our Macau business is experiencing treble-digit growth and so it is the right place for us to set up this new facility”, adding: “Macau stands as a very important and unique city in our GBA plans to capture the rising demand for insurance protection and wealth management within the region”.
In view of the fact that there’s strong demand from across Macau for the company’s “leading” health and wealth solutions, with over HK$6 billion new premiums having been issued across Hong Kong and Macau to mainland Chinese visitors, roughly 30 percent of which has come from customers from Guangdong province, Moncreiffee said: “We will thus continue to invest in our infrastructure across this region [Macau]”.
According to Moncreiffee, the new centre complements the two HSBC Life Para-medical Centres in Hong Kong to offer one-stop medical underwriting and health services to their customers, representing a “solid, connected and convenient service network” to better serve their customers by meeting their health and wealth management needs.
Greg Hingston, CEO of HSBC Global Insurance and Partnerships, said during the press conference that the opening of the new centre underscores HSBC Life’s strategic focus on growing its protection and wealth capabilities in Asia and, in particular, across the GBA.
Meanwhile, during the Q&A section of the press conference, Moncreiffee told reporters that HSBC Life has referral models with HSBC Bank and Hang Seng Bank, while also signing agreements with other banks in Macau for account opening and deposit-taking.
