Judiciary Police (PJ) Director Sit Chong Meng announced yesterday that a total of 200 participants graduated from their two training programmes, each of which lasted a year, with the aim of strengthening local students’ awareness of their social responsibility and the rule of law, while also cultivating their sense of belonging to the nation.
Directly translated from their Chinese names, the two programmes are titled “youth safety community leaders” and “young crime fighters” respectively.
Delivering a speech during yesterday’s closing ceremony for the two programmes, Sit said on the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) campus in Zape that since the implementation of the two training programmes in 2013 and 2018 respectively, the content of the training courses has been continuously optimised and innovated, “effectively” cultivating the holistic view of the students’ national security, building up their emotional sense of national pride, enhancing their social responsibility, and carrying forward the core values of loving Macau and loving the motherland.
Since the launch of the programmes, according to Sit, the number of participants and the positive results have continued to expand, accumulating over 2,500 trainees.
Through the two programmes, Sit said he expected the graduates to continue to uphold their social responsibility, bravely accept challenges, continue to grow and continue to learn, thereby contributing to the development of the nation and the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR).
The launch ceremony for the next edition of the two training programmes was held at the same time, with 100 tertiary education students from seven local higher education institutions and 300 students from 39 local secondary schools joining both programmes.
Si said he hoped that the new trainees would seize the opportunity to enrich themselves through the two respective programmes, while spreading the core values of patriotism and loving Macau, as well as caring for civil society.
