A local man has been arrested for drunk driving and blocking traffic, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said during a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect surnamed Lai is in his twenties. He told the police he’s jobless.
According to Lam, while police officers were patrolling in Avenida do Doutor Rodrigo Rodrigues at around 7 a.m. on Friday, they discovered a private car was stuck half way across the avenue. Lam noted that the front driver’s side of the car was damaged and the roadside kerb was damaged as well, while Lai was reeking of alcohol.
A breathalyser test showed that his alcohol concentration was 1.53 grammes of alcohol per litre of blood. He admitted to drinking alcohol earlier that day, and told the police that he lost control and hit the kerb.
Lai has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a drunk-driving charge, Lam said.
