A local woman has been arrested for stealing a tablet computer that she had found in the street, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Leong Chi Seng said at a regular press conference yesterday.
Leong said that the suspect in her fifties surnamed Chan works as a cleaner
Leong said that on July 7 a man told the police that the night before when he parked his car on Alameda da Harmonia in Coloane to arrange some items in the vehicle, his tablet, worth 4,000 patacas accidentally fell onto the ground and he drove away without noticing it. When he returned later to look for the tablet, it was gone.
According to Leong, after scrutinising their CCTV citywide camera system, the police identified Chan as the person who had picked up the tablet. She was intercepted in Alameda da Harmonia last week.
Chan admitted to the offence, and the tablet was retrieved from her flat.
Chan has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft-by-finding charge, according to Leong.
