Gaming staff wages up 6.3 pct in June

The average earnings (excluding irregular remuneration) of full-time employees in the gaming sector amounted to 24,730 patacas in June, up by 6.3 percent year-on-year, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced yesterday.

Casino dealers’ average earnings rose year-on-year by 5.0 percent to 20,330 patacas.

At the end of the second quarter, the gaming sector’s total number of full-time staff stood at 51,693, a decrease of 1,899 year-on-year. The number of dealers fell by 418 to 23,675.

At the end of June, the sector had 113 job vacancies, up by 94 year-on-year. The sector’s job vacancy rate stood at 0.2 percent.

In terms of recruitment prerequisites, knowledge of Putonghua and English stood at 81.4 percent and 57.5 percent respectively.

In the second quarter, the number of new recruits and staff members leaving their employment totalled 986 and 1,220 respectively. The employee recruitment rate (1.9 percent) and employee turnover rate (2.4 percent) rose by 1.6 and 0.9 percentage points respectively.

The bureau said in a statement that the figures indicated that the sector’s human resources situation was “relatively stable” in the second quarter.
