A male mainlander has been arrested for possessing a knife which he attempted to use for a robbery, Public Security Police spokesman Wong Wai Chon said during a regular press conference yesterday.
The 22-year-old suspect surnamed Sun told the police he’s jobless.
According to Wong, on Friday, patrolling police officers noticed Sun engaging in suspicious behaviour in Rua Dois do Bairro Iao Hon and apprehended him. During a search, the police discovered a pair of gloves and a fruit knife in his possession.
Under questioning, Sun told the police that he had arrived in Macau on August 23 and admitted to purchasing the knife and picking up the gloves from the street, with the intention of committing a robbery. Sun confessed that he was looking for a victim when the police intercepted him on Friday.
Sun has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a charge of possession of a prohibited weapon, according to Wong.
