GBA 5G Industry Alliance visits UM

A delegation from the Greater Bay Area 5G Industry Alliance recently paid a visit to the University of Macau (UM), where both parties discussed creating a 5G+ ecosystem and “promoting the continuous and steady development of industry-academia collaboration”, according to the tertiary education institution on Friday.

The delegation, which comprised 30 alliance representatives  and corporate executives, and the public university exchanged views on topics such as improving the GBA’s  5G+ industry chain and the Internet of Things (IoT), the statement noted. UM Rector Yonghua Song (aka Song Yonghua) and Vice Rector Xu Jian also accompanied the representatives to visit UM’s different facilities and talked about enhancing cooperation and innovation for the 5G+ industry chain in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Moreover, in an exchange session, the statement underlined, Song pointed out that the GBA is an important region for innovative technology, and that the public university will strengthen industry-academia collaboration with the alliance to jointly promote 5G technology’s research and technological innovation, and apply it in the intelligent transportation, smart city, and industrial internet fields.

The statement also said that China Mobile Hong Kong Co. Ltd. Director and CEO, as well as Alliance Founding Chairman Sean Lee (‮'‬چ‮&‬‭|‬‮-٧‬) noted that they will continue to uphold the principle of win-win cooperation, leverage the influence of the alliance, and collaborate with academia to build a 5G industry ecosystem.

He added that he was looking forward to fostering more opportunities and potential development for the GBA and Macau by strengthening exchanges and cooperation with UM and other higher education institutions, according to the statement.
