The Public Security Police (PSP) have fined a local man for driving the wrong way on Avenida da Amizade yesterday morning, local media reported yesterday.

Local Chinese-language media reported that shortly after entering Avenida da Amizade from Avenida do Dr Rodrigo Rodrigues outside the peninsula’s reservoir, the car suddenly crossed the central dividing line and drove in the opposite direction.

According to the reports, the car was being driven against the traffic for a while before returning to the right lane.

The police identified the driver as a local man in his thirties who holds a Macau driving licence.

The reports said that after becoming aware of the case, which occurred at around 7 a.m. yesterday, from a video clip circulating on the internet, the police identified the driver and contacted him, telling him to report to their Traffic Department for questioning.

The man admitted to driving against the traffic, but the reports did not mention the reason for his odd behaviour.

According to the reports, the police have fined the man for driving in the opposite direction on the road and crossing the central dividing line.

This screenshot captured from a video clip on the internet, which was published by public broadcaster TDM yesterday, shows the car crossing the central dividing line on Avenida da Amizade near the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal yesterday morning.
