The situation of the 1st International Film Festival & Awards (IFFAM), which is taking place from December 8 to 13, is in a “difficult period” following the abrupt resignation of the festival’s director Marco Müller, said Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes yesterday.

Senna Fernandes, who is also the president of the IFFAM Organising Committee, made the comments while addressing a press conference about the festival at Macau Tower. It was announced at the same time that she would take the post of acting festival director.

The Macau Films & Television Productions and Culture Association (MFTPA), one of the festival’s joint organisers, said in a statement yesterday that they received Müller’s resignation letter on Friday, adding that the resignation was effective from Sunday.
