The 42nd Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon is slated to take place on December 3 and will include Cotai in this year’s race route.
Event details were announced during a press conference at the Banyan Tree hotel at the Galaxy Macau integrated resort in Cotai, where Sports Bureau (ID) President Pun Weng Kun said in a speech that the event’s organising committee “has added new elements to the route design and the marathon, half marathon and mini marathon route this year that will all run along the Cotai Strip, bringing participants a brand-new experience”.
The marathon route will continue over the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge (commonly known as Old Bridge) and Sai Van Bridge.
Moreover, Pun also told reporters on the sidelines of yesterday’s press conference that the organising committee expects to choose around 10 overseas runners to participate in the international marathon, noting that the committee has received many requests from runners from different parts of the world to take part in the event and hopes to choose the best overseas runners to invite.
This year’s international marathon is jointly organised by the bureau, integrated resort operator Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) and the General Association of Athletics of Macau (AGAM), with the costs borne by GEG.
There are 1,400 places open for the marathon, while the half marathon and mini marathon have 4,800 and 5,800 available slots respectively. All races will start from the Olympic Sports Centre’s stadium in Taipa, with both the marathon and half marathon races commencing at 6 a.m., and the mini marathon at 6:15 a.m.
Registration for the marathon and half marathon will open from 9 a.m. this Saturday, while registration for the mini marathon starts at 9 a.m. this Sunday. One can visit www.macaomarathon.com or use the Macao International Marathon app to register and check out more event details.
Moreover, extended activities such as the “2023 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon Carnival”, accommodation packages, and F&B privileges are planned.
