Galaxy Macau, in partnership with the Macau Design Association (MDA), is hosting the Macao Design Week 2023 exhibition in its East Square and the “Galaxy Lantern Art Festival” at its Diamond Lobby.

The Macao Design Week exhibition runs through September 24 and features nearly 80 pieces from 50 design organisations from Macau, Japan and Singapore. Aside from the exhibited works, a Galaxy Macau statement provided earlier this week added that it also showcases Macau’s “design prowess” through seminars, tours and workshops.

The statement noted that designers participating in the exhibition, which is themed “Keywords of the City”, demonstrates “eagerness and enthusiasm”. Highlights include “N30° New Designers Exhibition”, the “Tokyo Illustrators Society - Flower Illustration Exhibition”, and the “Macao Product Design Association - Sustainable Design Exhibition”.

Meanwhile, the “Galaxy Lantern Art Festival” had invited art students from the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and local universities and designers to take part in a recent lantern design contest themed “Traditional cultural elements presented in innovative & artistic ways”, according to the statement.

Awards, which comprised gold, silver and bronze medals, Most Creative Award, and Honourable Mention, were presented during the festival’s launch ceremony on Tuesday, with eight winning lanterns on display until October 31.

An LED wall also showcases the interpretation of Chinese culture by four renowned designers from the mainland, Macau and Singapore, along with MDA designers, the statement said.

Both the exhibition and festival, the statement pointed out, provide “a vibrant platform for young designers to connect, collaborate, and showcase their innovative creations”. There are also a raft of experiences and events designed to illuminate both the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day.

The integrated resort will introduce “First-in-Macau Supermoon”, a six-metre giant Moon at the Lawn, from September 25 to October 8. Guests, the statement noted, can also watch live performances and parades from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on September 29 and September 30. Tailor-made picnic hampers are also for sale during the period.

Galaxy Macau will also host the Broadway Food & Craft Festival from September 28 to October 8, complemented by a range of Mid-Autumn themed F&B and retail offers until October 31, according to the statement.
