A non-resident worker (NRW) from the mainland has been arrested for drunk driving, Public Security Police spokeswoman Cheong Im Sim said during a regular press conference yesterday.

The 41-year-old suspect surnamed Hu works as a manager at an engineering company.

According to Cheong, on Thursday night police officers intercepted a driver who was reversing in Estrada dos Cavaleiros. Later, police found Chan to be reeking of alcohol.

Cheong noted that Hu could not complete a breathalyser test due to “insufficient lung capacity”. He was taken to a hospital where a blood test showed that his alcohol concentration was 1.77 grams of alcohol per litre of blood. Hu admitted to drinking alcohol earlier during dinner.

Hu has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a drunk-driving charge, Cheong said.
