Taiwanese pop singer Chang Hui Mei, aka A-Mei, performed to a sold-out Cotai Arena at The Venetian Macao on Saturday as part of her eighth solo concert tour “aMEI ASMR 2023 World Tour”, the integrated resort operator said in a statement on Sunday.
It has been seven years since Chang last performed at the integrated resort. The statement noted that she has been the most famous Asian pop diva since the 1990s and is a “highly influential figure in the Chinese-language music scene”. Chang’s current tour has been running for over a year and has attracted large audiences in each location, according to the statement.
During the concert, the statement said that Chang appeared in the incarnation of the ‘Dark Queen’ on stage to kick off the concert, wearing flamboyant couture costumes tailor-made for the tour. She performed her classic and latest hits during the over three-hour show such as beloved Mandopop love songs including “Full Name” and “3 Days 3 Nights”, and the more edgy and experimental “A Bloody Love Story” and “Depressed”.
The concert, according to the statement, was a “visual and auditory feast for the audience”. Chang ended the night with the sing-along song titled “Sister”, which the statement said captured “the hearts of all fans present”.
