SJM Resorts has launched the “Miffy Creative Show - Travel in Style” at Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) in Cotai, which features the picture book character “Miffy” designed by Dutch author, artist, illustrator and graphic designer Dick Bruna (1927-2017)
The character made its first appearance in 1955.
The integrated resort’s first and second levels feature large Miffy sculptures, with an SJM statement yesterday noting that the largest stands at two metres in height. The highlight, the statement said, is “Miffy’s Macau Adventure with 0.38”, a collaboration between artist Leong Ieng Wai (aka “0.38”) from the Fuhong Society of Macau and other artists with disabilities.
The piece mixes elements of Macau’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed architecture with traditional Portuguese tiles. Guests can also collect stamps across the property to uncover Miffy’s story.
Moreover, Miffy’s universe on the level-two Exhibition Area, features a collection of 100 artist-designed Miffy models, prints autographed by Bruna, an “Interactive Area”, and a Merchandise Selling Area, according to the statement. The statement added that the GLP Lobby Lounge is also serving a Miffy-themed menu for fans of all ages.
Meanwhile, the GLP Art Workshops on level one will host a Miffy workshop, inviting adults and children to channel their creativity through the character. One can call 8881 0711 for more information.
SJM is also running the “Create Your Own Miffy Design Contest” until November 12 and features two categories: a Junior Category for those under 18, and an Adult Category.
