Construction of the new headquarters of the Macau Customs Service in the Zone E1 land reclamation area has been completed, the Public Works Bureau (DSOP) has announced on its website.

Zone E1 lies off Pac On in Taipa, between the Macau-Taipa Friendship Bridge and the Taipa Ferry Terminal.

The Macau Customs Service is currently headquartered at Barra at the south-western tip of the Macau peninsula. The Customs Service is yet to announce when it will move its headquarters to the newly-completed building in Zone E1.

The bureau announced on its website on Monday that construction of the new customs headquarters, which got off the ground in January 2021, has now been completed.

According to the website, the project was carried out by the local Top Builders International Company Limited for 650 million patacas.

The site where the new customs headquarters is located covers about 5,700 square metres. The building has seven storeys plus a two-level underground carpark. It has a gross floor area of about 40,000 square metres.

According to the website, the new customs headquarters has an operational command centre, detention rooms, a surveillance and control room, interrogation rooms and office space, as well as training rooms and shooting ranges.
