The “Macao Courtesy Campaign • Tray Race” was held yesterday in celebration of the annual World Tourism Day, according to a statement from the Macau Government Tourism office (MGTO).
The tray race, in which around 158 contestants took part representing 24 local hotels and restaurants, started from the Ruins of Saint Paul’s and ended in Largo do Senado, according to the statement, with awards presented to the first, second and third placed winners, along with the “Courtesy of Macao” Best Costume Awards.
The statement noted that the first prize winner in the male category was Rhoderick Robledo Garcia, a Filipino, from The Venetian Macao, while Deng Lingzhi, a mainlander, from The Londoner Macao won first prize in the female category. The “Courtesy of Macao” Best Costume Awards in the male and female categories were presented to Su Mingjiu from Morpheus at City of Dreams and Leavelle Rodriguez Belarmino from Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), the statement added.
MGTO mascot Mak Mak was a “special guest contestant” in the race, the statement said.
Meanwhile, MGTO Acting Director Cheng Wai Tong and MGTO Deputy Director Ricky Hoi Io Meng welcomed “Lucky Tourists” at the local airport yesterday morning and presented them with souvenirs, the statement noted, which was a “delightful surprise” for the Ravindran family from Malaysia. Moreover, MGTO’s Tourist Information counters also distributed souvenirs to visitors throughout the day.
