A man was attacked and left with multiple fractures by four or five men who attempted to rob him in Areia Preta district on Saturday, a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said yesterday.
Addressing a press conference, the spokesperson said the victim was walking alone past a park near Rua Central da Areia Preta around midnight on Saturday when he heard a man behind him shouting someone’s name. He took no notice and continued walking as he did not know the man.
The man suddenly ran towards victim, put him in a choke hold and pushed him to the ground, according to the spokesperson. Three or four men then appeared and hit the victim over the head with a hard object, punching and kicking him while he was still on the ground. The men attempted to rob the victim of his crossbody bag but were unsuccessful, and ran away when passers-by shouted at them, said the spokesperson.
