The government yesterday launched a new round of applications for 5,415 subsidised home-ownership scheme (HOS) flats on the Zone A land reclamation area.

The three-month application period will end on December 27.

A press conference about the new round of applications for the 5,415 units was held yesterday at the Housing Bureau’s (IH) premises in Ilha Verde.

The 5,415 HOS flats, which will be built on five plots of B5, B7, B8, B11 and B12 on Zone A, comprise 1,657 one-bedroom units, 3,216 two-bedroom units and 542 three-bedroom units.

The last time the government accepted applications for HOS flats was in 2021 – for 5,254 units on five plots on Zone A.

The government launched a round of applications in 2019 for 3,011 HOS flats on Zone A.

Zone A is primarily being developed for public housing projects, the majority of which will be HOS projects, while the remaining will be social rental housing projects.

Up to 28,000 public housing units will be earmarked for Zone A.

The allocation of HOS flats is carried out based on a points-based system, according to which, applicants will be ranked according to scores calculated based on various factors and variables.

This handout photo taken from the Public Works Bureau’s (DSOP) website yesterday shows an ongoing HOS project on Plot B4 in the Zone A land reclamation area in May this year, which is now scheduled to be completed in September next year.
