Integrated resort operator Galaxy Macau launched its inaugural “Broadway Food & Craft Festival” yesterday at Broadway Macau’s Food Street in Cotai, with the free-admission 1950s-themed event lasting until October 8.
The event, which is set to be held annually, runs from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with more than 20 stalls offering over 100 kinds of street food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. There are also over 30 local arts and craft booths, as well as game booths.
The stalls are operated by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with a Galaxy Macau statement provided yesterday adding that the festival creates a “favourable business environment for the participating SMEs” by waiving venue rental fees and “providing software and hardware assistance”.
The festival also features daily performances from local musicians, bands and interactive street acts. Moreover, special guest performances including by popular Hong Kong singer Miranda Lee Jia will take place today at 8 p.m., while famous blogger from the mainland BLING is set to perform on Sunday and Monday at 8 p.m., the Galaxy Macau statement added.
Meanwhile, 300 festive lanterns designed by the Macau Designers Association (MDA) are also hung above Food Street.
In his speech yesterday, Kevin Kelley, Chief Operating Officer - Macau of Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), said that the festival features a raft of SME stalls, underlining GEG’s support for them by adopting the “Large Businesses Leading Small Businesses” business model.
“We hope to offer a wide and varied selection of craft and distinctive dining experiences to locals and travellers in the next 11 days as we celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival and the National Day golden week holiday, thereby deepening the cross-sectoral integration of ‘tourism + gastronomy’ and driving forward the ‘1+4’ appropriate diversification development strategy”, he added.
