The works of six artists are being showcased at “The Invitational Exhibition by Local Artists” in the Art Space of the Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) in Nape, which runs through October 29.

The exhibition is held as a part of “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023”, which this year is themed “The Statistics of Fortune” and takes “the correlation between science and religion” as its main thematic thread, according to a recent statement from the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC).

The statement noted that the participating artists comprise Konstantin Bessmertny, Guilherme Ung Vai Meng, Lampo Leong (梁藍波), Chan Hin Io, Bunny Lai Sut Weng and Eric Fok Hoi Seng.

The exhibits feature media ranging from ink painting to video, the statement said. Some of the works focus on how science and religion have worked together to build today’s civilisation, while others unveil the “prospering trade between China and the West”, or question the risk of technological development brought by today’s “over-reliance on rationality”, among others, the statement noted.

Each work has a “unique expression and depth” as the artists explore the intersection between science and religion, as well as speculate on how the two forces influence and shape our world today.

The exhibition is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with no entry after 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.  More information can be found on https://www.artmacao.mo/2023/en
