The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement last night that two mobile phone users from Macau were using roaming services in Israel.

The statement said that MGTO had, through their respective telecom operators in Macau, sent them SMS messages providing them with emergency contact information.

The statement said that according to information provided by Macau’s telecom operators, no mobile phone users from Macau were using roaming services in Palestine.

The statement underlined that MGTO has been paying constant close attention to the current situation in Israel and Palestine.

According to the statement, the Travel Industry Council of Macau (TICM) has told MGTO that no tour groups from Macau were currently travelling in the region.

As of last night, MGTO had not received any calls asking for assistance concerning the current Israel-Palestine situation, the statement said.

MGTO has been maintaining close contact with the local Commission of the Foreign Ministry as well as representatives of the city travel industry and monitoring the latest developments, the statement said.

MGTO is urging local residents not to travel to the region, according to the statement, which said that Macau residents who are in the region should pay close attention to the situation and stay highly vigilant.
