Zhuhai party chief probed for ‘suspected graft’

Li Jia, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Zhuhai Municipal Committee, is being investigated for suspected “severe disciplinary violations”, the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection announced last night.

The 51-year-old, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, was posted to Zhuhai in 2012, according a website jointly operated by the commission and the Ministry of Supervision. 

He studied Chinese philosophy at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangdong and obtained his PhD there in 2007, the website says, adding that he joined the party in 1985.
