A local man was caught red-handed taking sneak-snaps of a mainland tourist in her twenties on September 30 on a public bus, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Leong Chi Seng said during a regular press conference on Friday.
According to Leong, the 53-year-old suspect, surnamed Cheong, works as a hotel valet parking attendant.
Leong quoted the female victim as saying that when visiting Macau on September 30, she got on a Taipa-bound bus in Praça Ferreira do Amaral at 2:25 p.m., adding that during the trip, she noticed that Cheong was holding a mobile phone and taking photos of her body, so she immediately stopped him and called the police.
Leong said that PSP officers arrested Cheong at the bus stop in Avenida Wai Long in Taipa, on whose mobile phone the officers discovered 75 sneak-snaps and five videos of other women, while the photos of the female victim taken that day were believed to have been deleted by the suspect.
Under questioning, Cheong admitted to committing the crime, according to Leong, who pointed out that based on the dates of the videos and photos found on Cheong’s mobile phone, the police believe that he had been committing this kind of offence since June this year.
Cheong has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing illegal photo-taking and filming charges, Leong noted.
