The rear bumper of a car parked in the carpark of an office building in Nape caught fire yesterday afternoon, the cause of which was suspicious, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement last night.

According to the statement, the Fire Services Bureau (CB) received a report shortly after 4 p.m. about the fire, which occurred in the building’s carpark on Alameda Dr Carlos D’Assumpção, the two-way avenue in central Nape.

The statement did not reveal the name of the building.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, the statement said, the blaze had been put out by the building’s sprinkler system. The firefighters noticed that the car’s rear bumper was charred, the statement said.

No one was injured in the incident. As the firefighters considered the cause of the fire suspicious, the statement said, the Fire Services Bureau transferred the case to the Judiciary Police at around 4:45 p.m. for follow-up investigation.

The Judiciary Police have classified the case as suspected arson.
