An exhibition titled “Youth Dream – Exhibition of Chinese Young Artists” is currently on display at the Lisboeta Macau H853 Art Space in Cotai and features the works of young artists from Macau and the mainland.

Curated by Prof. Xiao Yong from the Central Academy of Fine Arts CAFA in Beijing, who was also the chief designer of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games’ medals, the exhibition presents paintings that interpret “young people’s understanding of life, culture and art”, according to a recent statement from the gallery. Xiao is also a professor at the private Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST).

The statement noted that the exhibition, which features 13 participating artists, is themed “Youth Dreams”, bringing together works in different fields that aim to showcase that young people from both Macau and the mainland are “constantly striving for self-improvement, embracing dreams, relentlessly exploring the continuation and innovation of art and culture”, as well as striving to realise the “great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation”.

The statement said that the works blend traditional culture and modern elements through the artists’ perspectives and creative skills. The works, the statement added, have full compositions, rich colours, “substantial content”, and “profound artistic conceptions” covering old streets and alleys, historical stories, natural scenery and characters.

Moreover, each work features the artists’ “deep affection, showing the rich connotation of Chinese culture”, the statement noted.

The free-admission exhibition runs until next Wednesday, with the Art Space open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
