A joint photography exhibition by O Tin Hong and Chan Ka Ieng entitled “The Town We Live In” shows their pictures of Macau at the Youth Art Exhibition and Performance Hall. The event is sponsored by the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ), according to an article about the exhibition on the bureau’s website.
O told The Macau Post Daily that they both graduated from the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) majoring in Journalism and Communication. Both also studied photography at the university.
O said both further strengthened their interest and passion in photography during their more than 400 days of backpacking trips in the three years after graduating. By constantly recording what they saw and heard, they gradually developed their interest in the art of photography. Both work as clerks now, O said.
The website points out that various travel restrictions have been implemented between countries around the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Locals who in the past liked to go on holiday trips now have to stay in Macau and may use their leisure time to admire their city, the website’s unsigned article underlines.
Although Macau is a small place, there is different scenery during different seasons, at different points of times, and different people have different views of what they see. Besides exhibiting their photographs of Macau, O and Chan hope to inspire everyone to observe and record what’s happening in their city, according to the article.
The exhibition runs until August 16 at the Youth Art Exhibition and Performance Hall in Praça do Tap Seac. It opens from noon to 8 p.m. every day, except Monday. Admission is free.
As part of the government’s COVID-19 epidemic prevention measures, all visitors entering the venue must wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and present a digital health declaration.
