Two male non-resident workers (NRWs) from the mainland and a local woman have been arrested for their involvement in fake employment, Public Security Police (PSP) Lei Chan Hong said at a regular press conference yesterday.
The two men, surnamed Su and Zheng, were registered under the company owned by the local suspect, surnamed Wong. Wong is a casino dealer in her forties, Su is in his forties, and Zheng is in his thirties.
According to Lei, officers from the Public Security Police (PSP) recently received a referral from the Judiciary Police (PJ) regarding a suspected illegal currency exchange case involving Su. Last week, the police went to Wong’s shop in the northern district and came into contact with Zheng, who then contacted Wong to assist in the investigation.
Lei noted that the trio admitted to engaging in fake employment and told the police that Zheng, who owed money to Su, promised Wong a financial reward for facilitating Su’s employment as a non-resident worker, which was approved in May. However, Wong claimed that she had not received any payment. Lei added that both Zheng and Su had been working as illegal money exchange dealers in Macau.
According to Lei, Zheng set up the shop for Wong so that she could employ Zheng and Su.
The trio have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing document forgery charges, according to Lei.
