2.3 million visit Macau in September

Macau recorded 2.3 million visitor arrivals last month, a year-on-year growth of 312.5 percent but a month-on-month decline of 28.6 percent, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said in a statement yesterday.

Overnight visitors (1.16 million) and same-day visitors (1.13 million) rose by 317.3 percent and 307.7 percent year on year respectively. Overnight visitors stayed for an average of 2.5 days, a drop by one day compared to the same month of last year.

Mainlanders and Hongkongers accounted for 69.0 percent and 23.2 percent of all visitor arrivals in September respectively.

In the first nine months, the number of visitor arrivals grew by 356.6 percent to 16.9 million.


Over 300,000 visitors during Chung Yeung

Meanwhile, according to official statistics, Macau recorded 301,705 visitor arrivals during the Chung Yeung (Double Ninth) long weekend holiday (Saturday through Monday), resulting in a daily average of 100,568 visitors during the three days.
