Over 20 films in Chinese and Portuguese will be screened during the “China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries [PSCs] Film Festival”, which is slated to take place from November 10 to 24, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement yesterday.
The film festival, themed “Dresses Galore in Films”, is part of the 5th Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries, and is co-organised in conjunction with integrated resort (IR) operators Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) and SJM Resorts, according to the statement.
The statement noted that the festival features four sections: “Dresses Galore in Films”, “Premiere of Chinese and Lusophone Films”, “Screening of Films about Macao”, and “Outdoor Screening”, enabling audiences to experience the unique cultures of China, PSCs and their regions, as well as Macau through “fashion styling in films”.
The opening film “Good Autumn, Mommy” will be screened at the Galaxy Cinemas on November 10, while the closing film “Miúcha: The Voice of Bossa Nova” will be screened outdoors at Jardim Secreto (“Secret Garden”) at Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) in Cotai on November 24, the statement added.
Aside from film screenings, the statement said that free outreach activities will be held throughout the festival including outdoor screenings, post-screening seminars and workshops. Registrations will be required for some activities, with details to be announced in due course.
Festival tickets will be available from Tuesday and can be purchased both online and at Cinematheque•Passion, with its ticket office open from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily but is closed on Mondays. Various discounts are available.
Apart from Galaxy Cinemas and GLP, the films will be shown at Cinematheque•Passion near the Ruins of St Paul’s and the erstwhile Iec Long Firecracker Factory in Taipa.
