Air Macau announced yesterday in a statement that its inaugural flight to Jakarta has been postponed due to “capacity restrictions” at the Indonesian capital’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

The four-times-a-week direct flight route connecting Macau and Jakarta was initially scheduled to start yesterday, with the first outbound flight to depart at 4:40 p.m. local time and arrive at 8:40 p.m.

In the statement, Air Macau said that it received an “emergency notice” yesterday from Soekarno-Hatta Airport informing it of the decision to postpone the route’s operation in view of the limited overnight support capacity of the airport. It added that the company has been working closely with Jakarta’s airport as well as Indonesia’s authority of civil aviation, in order to determine the new operating time as soon as possible.

The local flag carrier’s return flight from Jakarta to Macau, originally scheduled for today, has also been postponed, according to the statement.
